چکیده

Introduction Brucellosis is endemic in Uganda and a major cause of production losses livestock. Early detection quantification the disease vital for its control eradication. The aim this study was to assess sero-prevalence factors associated with anti- Brucella antibodies slaughtered Materials methods Sera from 886 cattle, 925 small ruminants, 900 pigs were collected regional abattoirs Northern, Eastern Central Uganda. To estimate sero-prevalence, sera serially tested using combination Rose Bengal Test (RBT) Native Hapten (NH) immunoprecipitation test. True estimated Rogan-Gladden estimator considering sensitivity specificity NH Multivariable logistic regression used seropositivity antibodies. Results discussion Small ruminants showed highest seroprevalence (6.7%, 95% CI = 4.2-7.1) followed by cattle (3.8%, 2.4-4.9) (2.8%, 1.1-2.9). Seropositivity region origin (OR 4.6,95%CI=1.49-17.75, p 0.013) cattle; sex 2.90, C 1.5-6.34, 0.004), age (OR=4.04, 1.07-8.52, 0.006) species 2.53, 1.08-6.98, 0.048) ruminants; finally 2.88, 0.041). Progressive interventions must include both since they play bigger role maintenance dissemination . should adopt risk-based approach regions at higher risk being given top priority. Bacteriological molecular studies be undertaken clarify goat-cattle cross infections epidemiological cycle brucellosis

Sero-prevalence and Molecular Detection of Brucella species in Slaughter Pigs (Sus scrofa) of Punjab, India

Huge losses have been reported due to brucellosis in livestock populations of the country. However, limited studies have been carried out on porcine brucellosis in India. As far as we are aware, this is the first epidemiologic study carried out to determine Brucella species circulating in naturally infected pigs (Sus scrofa) in Punjab, India. The blood samples were collected from 330 pigs slaug...
